Abstract
This work extensively analyzes Ayn Rand’s Objectivism as a systematic philosophy, devoting particular attention to its political and legal-philosophical aspects. To that effect it delves exhaustively into those authors who exerted significant philosophical influence on Ayn Rand. It further endeavors to determine the extent of such influence. The interface between the Objectivist theoretical body, Rand’s life and personality, and her historical, political, social, and cultural circumstances, is also examined. The actual relevance of Objectivism as a philosophy is thereby emphasized, and its tenets are critically assessed.
